Home is where hope begins, and at LESC we're committed to providing more than just shelter. Our supportive housing options in NYC empower individuals and families by offering a stable foundation on which to build brighter futures. We offer our residential clients:
A range of supportive housing facilities designed to meet your individual circumstances and result in an improved quality of life.
Access to stable, safe housing with supportive services can be key to a lasting recovery.
An environment that fosters social connectedness and community integration, where people support one another on their journey toward recovery and independence.
LESC has five different models to meet the needs of our diverse clients. Depending on your unique circumstances, you may qualify for one of our five specialized supportive housing programs.
LESC’s Franklin Avenue Residence provides permanent, supportive, and affordable studio apartments in the Bronx. These 71 studio units are built to serve chronically homeless single adults (age 18 and over) with a substance use disorder that is a primary barrier to independent living. Referrals are received through the Human Resources Administration (HRA). The remaining 27 community tenants are selected through a lottery. Franklin Avenue Residence provides individuals with the stability and support they need to thrive. On-site services include health, vocational, nutrition, life skills, case management, therapy, education, harm reduction services, and trauma-informed counseling. Amenities include 24/7 security, a community and computer room, and a garden. Individuals residing in Franklin Avenue Residence have access to communal spaces where they can interact with fellow residents, participate in social activities, and build meaningful relationships. This sense of belonging helps combat isolation and enhances their emotional well-being.

LESC’s Diversity Works consists of 42 permanent, affordable studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. 34 of these units are designated for families who are chronically homeless in which the head of household requires support for a substance use disorder. Referrals are received through the Human Resources Administration (HRA). The remaining 8 income-restricted units are filled by referrals from the community. By providing a steady and supportive housing environment with access to essential services, families can build their strengths, gain independence, and achieve stability, and, as a result, improve their overall well-being. On-site services include life skills, counseling, case management, therapy, education, recovery-oriented services, and after-school programs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a computer room, and a backyard. Diversity Works often organizes social activities and events, which help families build new relationships with other residents and keep them connected with their community.

LESC’s Scattersite provides permanent supportive housing to 25 single recovering adults who have completed a course of treatment for substance use disorder and who are at risk of homelessness. By offering housing combined with case management services, residents can break free from the cycle of homelessness, maintain their sobriety and regain their independence, leading to improved health outcomes, enhanced social connectedness, and reduced reliance on emergency services and law enforcement interactions.
Transitional Safety Unit Housing was created to support LESC’s dedication to resilient recovery and continuum of care. Transitional Safety Unit Housing provides safe and temporary housing, up to 12 months, to recovering single adults who are participating in or have completed our treatment programs. Through access to temporary housing and support services, individuals have the tools and structure they need to rebuild their lives and work towards long-term self-sufficiency. Services are geared toward supporting sobriety, encouraging personal growth, and accessing resources that will assist individuals in finding stable and affordable permanent housing.
Chronically homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS related illnesses can turn to Pencer House, an inclusive community of 40 studio apartments free of stigma and discrimination. Referrals are received through the Human Resources Administration (HRA) and HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA). Pencer House provides a permanent, safe, and stable environment with a range of tailored support services to promote self-sufficiency and a higher quality of life. On-site services include case management, two meals a day, referral to community resources, support groups, recovery-oriented counseling, and life skills training. Amenities include 24/7 security, a computer lab, and a backyard. Social connections between the residents are formed through support groups and community events, resulting in an invaluable support network contributing to their overall well-being.
